Instilling Change: Gratitude

Updated: Nov 21

Gratitude is a state of being, whereas thankfulness is the expression of that state of being. Unlike thankfulness, gratitude isn't an emotion or response to a situation. It is a mindset rooted in awareness, acceptance, compassion, and non-judgment that exists regardless of external factors.

What a blessing to be able to say, “Look how far I’ve come, look how far we’ve come.” Second Chance has been evolving as a staple in the Kansas City, Missouri community since 2008. Between the many programs we offer to our clients to our devoted staff members, we understand and fully embrace the idea that teamwork makes the dream work.

Thanksgiving season is upon us once again. We want to extend a big thank you to all our clients - for the efforts they have put into making big life changes and trusting staff with their best interest at heart. To our graduates, active clients and peer support Leaders, thank you.

We cannot even begin to put value on how much we appreciate you all. Thank you, peer support leaders, for taking the time out of your busy schedules to educate, reassure and push current clients to become the greatest version of themselves. The compassion our peer support leaders display is incredible.

Finally, a huge thank you to our program graduates. Without your perseverance to succeed, our Second Chance staff would not be here now. Your determination when all odds are stacked against you is admirable. Your success is truly important to us.

Clients often come to Second Chance a bit skeptical but end up leaving on a high note. Here at Second Chance, there is no judgment. Just support and encouragement. Thank You.
